Quantifying non-CO2 contributions to remaining carbon budgets

چکیده

Abstract The IPCC Special Report on 1.5 °C concluded that anthropogenic global warming is determined by cumulative CO 2 emissions and the non-CO radiative forcing level in decades prior to peak warming. We quantify this using -forcing-equivalent (CO -fe) emissions. produce an observationally constrained estimate of Transient Climate Response carbon Emissions (TCRE), giving a 90% confidence interval 0.26–0.78 °C/TtCO , implying remaining total -fe budget from 2020 350–1040 GtCO -fe, where changes take up 50 300 -fe. Using central estimate, budgets are 640, 545, 455 for 33, or 66% chance limiting °C. discuss impact GMST revisions contribution mitigation budgets, determining reporting alternative definitions GMST, displaying contributions two-dimensional presentation, offers most transparent approach.

Quantifying Uncertainty in Forest Nutrient Budgets

Nutrient budgets for forested ecosystems have rarely included error analysis, in spite of the importance of uncertainty to interpretation and extrapolation of the results. Uncertainty derives from natural spatial and temporal variation and also from knowledge uncertainty in measurement and models. For example, when estimating forest biomass, researchers commonly report sampling uncertainty but ...

Quantifying contextual contributions to word-recognition processes.

The experiment reported here used the gating paradigm (Grosjean, 1980) to investigate the following issues: To test the validity of the claims made by the "cohort" theory (MarslenWilaon & Tyler, 1980; Marslen-Wilson & Welsh, 1978) for the interaction of sensory and contextual constraints during the process of recognizing spoken words, and to determine the relative contribution of two kinds of c...

Quantifying cerebral contributions to pain beyond nociception

Cerebral processes contribute to pain beyond the level of nociceptive input and mediate psychological and behavioural influences. However, cerebral contributions beyond nociception are not yet well characterized, leading to a predominant focus on nociception when studying pain and developing interventions. Here we use functional magnetic resonance imaging combined with machine learning to devel...

non-corrective approach to pronunciation

the aim of this study has been to find answers for the following questions: 1. what is the effect of immediate correction on students pronunciation errors? 2. what would be the effect of teaching the more rgular patterns of english pronunciation? 3. is there any significant difference between the two methods of dealing with pronuciation errore, i. e., correction and the teaching of the regular ...

Quantifying lake allochthonous organic carbon budgets using a simple equilibrium model

We quantify the allochthonous organic carbon (OC) budgets for seven north temperate lakes, using diverse information about their land cover, hydrology, and limnological characteristics. We develop a simple equilibrium model within a Bayesian framework that exploits the differences among the lakes to estimate three key rates: aerial loading (AOC) and wetland loading (WOC) from adjacent ecosystem...
